The Red Devils got on the board late in the second quarter, when Mitchell scrambled in from a single yard out, capping a 12-play, 88 yard drive. The Statesmen countered with a 14-play march that stalled out at the Dickinson 7. Sophomore Conor Callahan converted a 25-yard field as the quarter expired.

On the ensuing drive, the Statesmen got their best scoring chance of the second half. A 7-yard sack of Vella on third and 5, forced Hobart to settle for a field goal attempt, but Callahan's 39-yard try was wide left.
