ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart tennis team won its season opener, 5-4, over St. Lawrence in the first round of the Flower City Invitational. The Statesmen will face the winner of RIT-Oneonta in the Flower City semifinals.

Hobart took two of the three doubles matches. First-years Bruce Grant and Alex James were victorious at first doubles, while junior Matt Chin and sophomore Matt Hursh won at second doubles.

In singles action, James, Chin, and sophomore Kevin Bates won at No. 4 through No. 6, respectively.

The semifinals were scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., but rain has forced the invitational indoors, slowing tournament play.
