GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith cross country team finished in sixth place in the Liberty League Championships this afternoon. Hobart and William Smith hosted the championship at Seneca Lake State Park. The defending champions, St. Lawrence, took first place.
First-year
Maggie Nash led the Herons completing the 6-kilometer course with a time of 24 minutes, 35.02 seconds to finish 14th out of 69 runners. With her finish, Nash earned All-Liberty League Second Team honors. The top seven runners earned first team honors and the next seven finishers earned second team recognition.
Sophomore
Kelly Watters was the next Heron to cross the finish. She posted a time of 26:48.37 for a 40th place finish. First-year KC Cronmiller finished 47th and first-year
Meghan Gaucher was right behind her logging a 48th place finish. First-year
Marielle Verni rounded out the top five William Smith runners finishing in 49th place.
The Saints won the championship for the ninth straight year, recording a team total of 22 points. St. Lawrence senior Wendy Pavlus won the race with a time of 22:35.11. Vassar took second place with 37 points, and Rensselaer finished third with 87 team points.
The Herons will be back in action on Nov. 6, when they will compete in the ECAC Championships.
