CANTON, N.Y.—The William Smith squash team opened up the season with a 2-1 record. The Herons defeated both St. Lawrence and Queens 7-2 and dropped a close 5-4 match to Toronto.
Against Queens, senior
Alexa Comstock and sophomore
Anne Habecker recorded 3-1 wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Sophomore

Else Ross, and first-year
Ginny McDermott all earned 3-0 victories at No. 5-8.
Comstock and Habecker also posted 3-1 wins against St. Lawrence at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Beckwith, Riordan, McDermott, and first-year
Tyler Mitchell shut out their opponents at No. 5, No. 6, No. 8, and No. 9. Ross came out with a 3-2 win at No. 7.
In a tight match against Toronto, Beckwith, Riordan, McDermott, and Mitchell all posted 3-0 wins at the same positions.
The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 20, when they travel to play Rochester at 4:30 p.m.
