William Smith tennis downs Dickinson 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla.—The William Smith College tennis team began its spring break week with a 7-2 victory over Dickinson this afternoon. The Herons improve to 3-1 overall, while the Red Devils fall to 2-1.

Junior Amanda Slack and sophomore Casey Kennedy guided William Smith at first and second singles, respectively. Slack defeated Dickinson's Joelle Nitzberg 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, while Kennedy posted a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Alysia Rodgers at No. 2.

Sophomore Joanie Hilton, junior Melissa Slack, and first-year Remy Raevsky wrapped up singles action with wins at Nos. 3, 4, and 6, respectively.

The Herons also won two of three doubles matches. Hilton joined sophomore Jess McCue for an 8-4 victory vs. Nitzberg and Sarah Woodward at No. 1, while Amanda and Melissa Slack earned a hard-fought 9-7 win over Rodgers and Sarah Lindner at No. 2.

William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, March 16, when the Herons take on Minnesota-Crookston at 10:30 a.m.
