Statesmen fall to Lions 7-2

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart tennis capped a brutal stretch of its schedule today with a 7-2 loss to the College of New Jersey. Today's match marked the Statesmen's eighth in 12 days.

The Lions, ranked 11th in the region by the ITA, won all three doubles match to build a strong lead. New Jersey (6-3) also emerged victorious from the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles matches to secure the victory.

At No. 2 singles, Hobart's Matt Hursh triumphed over Stewart Fernandez 6-3, 6-4. The Statesmen also got a victory from Alex James a third singles. He defeated Dean Thompson 6-3, 6-2 for his fourth victory in five matches.

The Statesmen (6-6) will be back in action on April 1, when they visit RIT. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
