GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College tennis team lost to New York University 6-3 this afternoon at the HWS Tennis Center, slipping to 7-10 on the season. The Violets improve to 3-6 overall.
First-year
Bruce Grant and sophomore
Matt Hursh both earned singles victories for Hobart. Grant defeated Jason Sacher 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1, while Hursh earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Alex Zara at No. 2.
Senior
Guillaume Etlin and sophomore
Kevin Bates combined for the third Statesmen point. They topped Eugene Tsarevskiy and Phil Rosenstein at third doubles, 8-5. NYU edged Hobart 9-8 at both first and second singles, after two hard-fought, back-and-forth matches.
The Statesmen will be back in action April 17-18, when they compete in the Liberty League Tournament at Vassar.
