CLINTON, N.Y.—The William Smith squash team suffered a pair of 9-0 defeats to open the season today. The Herons lost to St. Lawrence and Vassar at Hamilton.

Against the Saints, sophomores Ginny McDermott and Tyler Mitchell were the only Herons to avoid being swept. They lost 3-1 at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Against the Brewers, Katie Riordan was the only William Smith player to win a game, falling 3-1 at No. 5.

The Herons will be back in action at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, when they visit Rochester.
