GENEVA, N.Y.—
The Hobart College tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over visiting Rochester Institute of Technology in a match played this afternoon in Bristol Field House. The Statesmen improve to 5-6 this season, and the Tigers are now 0-2.

Hobart started off the afternoon picking up all three doubles points. Sophomores Bruce Grant and Alex James paired up at the top spot to earn an 8-5 win. The duo of senior Matt Chin and junior Matt Hursh posted an 8-4 victory at No. 2, and sophomore Sam DeLuccia and junior Kevin Bates teamed up to secure an 8-2 win at No. 3.

Grant faced some of the toughest competition of the day at the top singles spot, but prevailed over RIT's Tennyson Saucedo, 7-5, 6-3. Hursh triumphed at No. 2 6-0, 6-1, and DeLuccia registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3. At the No. 4 spot, James won 6-1, 7-5, and Bates swept his Tiger opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Junior Walter Green secured the sweep winning at No. 6 (4-3, retired).

The Statesmen will be back in action on Sunday, April 3, when they travel to play Skidmore at 1 p.m.
