Statesmen defeat St. Lawrence, 6-3

CANTON, N.Y.—
The Hobart tennis team defeated St. Lawrence 6-3 in a match played this afternoon at the Saints' Newell Field House. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 6-8 overall, and St. Lawrence is now 5-6 this season.

Hobart picked up one doubles point when sophomore Sam DeLuccia and junior Kevin Bates topped Chris Rogers and Tom Timpone, 8-3.

In singles, junior Matt Hursh led the Statesmen effort, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory. DeLuccia picked up his second win of the day at No. 3. 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4, sophomore Alex James posted a 6-1, 6-2 win, and Bates triumphed 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 5. Junior Walter Green cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Timpone at No. 6.

Hobart will be back on the courts April 13, when the Statesmen host Roberts Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
