ITHACA, N.Y.—The Hobart College tennis team edged Ithaca College 5-4 in a match played this afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center. The Statesmen improved their record to 8-9, and the Bombers are now 9-6 this season.

Hobart came out of doubles play with one point. Junior Kevin Bates and sophomore Sam DeLuccia teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, junior Matt Hursh defeated Ithaca's Jimmy Newton 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. DeLuccia picked up his second win of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Sophomore Alex James edged his Bomber opponent 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4, and junior Walter Green cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.

The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, April 27 when they host Hamilton at 4 p.m.
