Statesmen top Continentals, 6-3

GENEVA, N.Y.—
The Hobart tennis team defeated Hamilton in a match played at the HWS Tennis Center this afternoon. The Statesmen wrap up the regular season with a 9-9 record, and the Continentals are now 6-7 overall.

Hobart earned two points in doubles play. At No. 1, sophomore Bruce Grant and sophomore Alex James paired up for an 8-6 win. It was their 10th victory this season. Sophomore Sam DeLuccia  and junior Kevin Bates earned their 11th win of the season at No. 3 defeating their Hamilton opponents 8-3.

In singles, Grant posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over the Continentals' Jon Franzel at the top spot. It was his sixth singles victory this season. At No. 3, DeLuccia rallied to defeat Drew Libin 5-7, 6-0, 6-4, and improved his season singles mark to 9-10. James also earned his second win of the afternoon by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot. He now shares a team-high with 10 singles wins. At No. 6, junior Walter Green registered his 10th singles victory  with a 6-1, 6-2 win.

The Statesmen will be back in action April 30-May 1, when they compete in the Liberty League Tournament.
