Results vs. Skidmore
GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team split two Liberty League Tournament matches today. The third-seeded Herons defeated No. 6 Union 9-0 in the first round, and fell 8-1 to second-seeded Skidmore in the semifinals in matches played in Bristol Field House today.
With the win over Vassar, the William Smith tennis team broke the record for most wins in a season with 15. After today's play the Herons overall record stands at 15-4.
The Thoroughbreds improved to 9-8, and will face top-seeded Vassar tomorrow, May 8, for the championship title at the HWS Tennis Center at noon. William Smith will take on St. Lawrence for third place tomorrow at 9 a.m. Fifth-seeded Rensselaer took fifth place in the tournament with a 6-3 win over Union this afternoon.
Against the Dutchwomen, the Herons started things off strong, picking up all three points in doubles play. Junior

Kiara Ocasio cruised to an 8-2 win at the top spot for their 11th win of the season. Junior

Katie Serock edged their Union opponents, 9-7 at No. 2 for their ninth win this year, and sophomore

Remy Raevsky swept their competition 8-0 at No. 3. They lead the team with 21 doubles wins.
William Smith continued to dominate in singles action. Senior
Amanda Slack picked up her 13th win this season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1. Junior
Casey Kennedy improved her season mark to 17-9 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Raevsky blanked the Dutchwomen's Melanie Watman 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. It was her 15th singles win this year. At No. 4, Leighton posted a 6-0, 6-2 win, and at No. 5, first-year Kate O'Connor registered her seventh victory defeating Unions' Liz Lehmann 6-1, 6-1. Senior
Gaby Berkman posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot to secure the sweep. She improved her season mark to 3-1.
Against nationally ranked No. 29 Skidmore, the Herons fought hard. The Thoroughbreds picked up all three doubles points, but the duos of McCue and Serock as well as Leighton and Raevsky were edged 9-8 at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Hilton picked up a win for William Smith at No. 4. She topped Skidmore's Tory Engros 6-4, 6-3 to improve her season mark to 20-5.
Melissa Slack also played a close match being edged in three sets at No. 5.
