CLINTON, N.Y.—The William Smith College squash team went 1-2 in three matches played at Hamilton College's Little Squash Courts today. The Herons started the day with a 6-3 win over No. 33 Colgate. William Smith fell 9-0 to No. 15 Hamilton and was edged 5-4 by No. 22 Connecticut College.
The Herons, ranked No. 25 in the most recent College Squash Association rankings, are now 6-10 overall.
Against the Raiders, first-year
Andrea Tran led the William Smith effort with a 3-2 win at No. 2. Junior
Courtney Leous and sophomore
Ginny McDermott cruised to 3-0 wins at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. At No. 6 senior
Katie Riordan earned a 3-1 victory. Sophomore
Tyler Mitchell also logged a 3-1 win at No. 7, and first-year
Molly Doran rounded out the Heron lineup with a 3-2 victory at No. 9.
Against the Camels William Smith earned wins at Nos. 6-9. Riordan led William Smith with a 3-1 win at No. 6. Mitchell and senior
Sarah Cutts also recorded 3-1 wins over their Connecticut College opponents at Nos. 7 and 8 respectively. Doran posted her second win of the day at No. 9, defeating her opponent in three straight games.
The Herons will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 12, when they travel to take on Cornell at 2 p.m.
