Jacqueline Murphy scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds for her team-leading seventh double-double of the season, but Union College. The Dutchwomen defended their home floor with a 59-47 Liberty League victory over the Herons.

Brittney Kenney produced a game-high 19 points, five rebounds, and three steals for Union. Shayla Madden added 14 points and six boards.
Union led by as many as eight in the first half and carried a 25-20 lead into halftime. The Dutchwomen shot just 37 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, but harrassed William Smith into a 7-for-30 shooting performance. The Herons didn't help themelves at the free throw line either, making just 3-of-8 from the charity stripe.
After the break, the Dutchwomen extended their lead to as many as 13. William Smith used an 11-2 run to trim Union's lead to 42-38 with 5:51 remaining. The Herons had a look at the basket with a chance to make it a one possession game, but misfired. The Dutchwomen quelled the threat with a 9-2 run and never let their lead dip below nine down the stretch.
William Smith (11-10, 7-5) shot just 29 percent from the floor and 41 percent from the line. Union (10-11, 6-7) connected at a 36.5 percent clip from the field and made 16-of-19 from the line.
The Herons will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 10, when they host Skidmore. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Several special events are planned for William Smith's final home weekend of the regular season.
