The 19th-ranked William Smith College field hockey team will host a pair of matches on McCooey Field this week. The Herons will take on Ithaca on Wednesday and No. 18 Rochester on Saturday.
The Bombers will arrive in Geneva with a 4-2 record following a 4-2 victory over Nazareth on Saturday. Julia Conroy leads the team with six goals and 12 points. Emily Lash is the team's top playmaker with four assists. In goal, Kelly Singleton has started every game and has a 2.18 goals against average and a .793 save percentage. William Smith has won four in a row against Ithaca, including a 2-1 decision at IC last season. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The Liberty League rival Yellowjackets are off to the best start in program history, carrying a 7-0 record into this afternoon's match against Hartwick. Michelle Relin has a team-high nine goals and 18 points while Lindsey Randall sports a team-high five assists. Madison Wagner has started every game in goal and owns a 0.82 goals against average and an .871 save percentage. The Herons have won back-to-back meetings with Rochester, including a 2-1 match in the Flower City last year. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.

At halftime of the Rochester match, William Smith will recognize the Heron Hall of Honor Class of 2012. The inductees are Beth Flannery Rosenthal '73, of Shavertown, Pa., Jane Sala McWilliams '75, of Essex Fells, N.J., Kristen Jensen '82, of Penn Yan, N.Y., Courtney Hutchinson Hundley '92, of Washington, D.C., Dr. Jaime Van Fossan Kenny '98, of Webster, N.Y., Rebecca Gutwin Coons '06, of Colchester, Vt., and Susan Bassett, of Pittsburgh. Additionally, William Smith will recognize its 1997 national championship field hockey team as a Heron Team of Distinction.
