Hobart Hockey Helpers to hold apparel sale at Friday's game

Hobart College Hockey Helpers will be selling apparel to benefit the charitable organizations they have partnered with including Donate Life, the Wounded Warrior Project and Project Eye-to-Eye. The Statesmen will have sweatshirts, hats, jersey and t-shirts available for purchase at their ECAC West game against Elmira on Friday, Jan. 27. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Cooler.

Hobart Hockey Helpers sweatshirts and hats will be for sale and proceeds will benefit Project Eye-to-Eye. A national mentoring program, Project Eye-to-Eye has a Hobart and William Smith College's chapter. The program pairs children with learning disabilities or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with college students who share the same challenges.

The Statesmen will also be selling t-shirts to raise money for Donate Life, a nationally recognized non-profit group devoted to increasing organ, eye and tissue donation. “Cooler Hats” as well as vintage and camouflage jerseys will also be available for purchase with the funds raised going to Hobart Hockey Helpers various charitable initiatives, including the Wounded Warrior Project. A non-profit organization, the Wounded Warrior Project is committed to supporting severely injured U.S. military personnel when they return home from service in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas around the world.

Hobart Hockey Helpers was established in 2007 by Statesmen defenseman Ryan Adler '09 to give the hockey team the opportunity to volunteer and give back through service projects in the community.

The Statesmen (14-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 ECAC West) are ranked No. 5 in both the D3hockey.com poll and the USCHO.com poll. Senior Frank Salituro leads the team with 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists. Senior goalie Nick Broadwater is sporting a 1.49 goals against average and a .944 save percentage.

Elmira holds a 24-13-2 lead in the series against Hobart dating back to 1998. However, the Statesmen edged the Soaring Eagles 5-4 in their last meeting on Feb. 11, 2012.

The Soaring Eagles come to Geneva with an 8-10-0 overall record and a 3-5-0 mark in ECAC West play. Michael Collins leads the team with 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists. Ryan deMelo and Darren McDonald have split time in goal. deMelo has posted a 4.26 goals against average and a .868 save percentage, while McDonald is sporting a 4.57 goals against average and a .870 save percentage.
