Results

The Hobart College tennis team was edged 5-4 by Hope in a match played in Orlando, Fla., this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 1-4 overall.

Hobart came out of doubles action up 2-1. Seniors Sam DeLuccia and Alex James picked up the Statesmen's first win at No. 2, and then senior Bruce Grant and sophomore Michael Fields logged an 8-6 victory at the top spot.

Hope earned a win at No. 4 singles to make it 2-2 overall. Fields posted his second win of the afternoon, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 to give Hobart back the lead. Grant fell at the top spot to tie things back up, but Sam DeLuccia notched a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 which made it 4-3 in favor of the Statesmen. Hope earned wins at Nos. 3 and 6 to secure the overall victory.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, March 19, when they take on North Central at 7 p.m.
