The Hobart College tennis team will compete in the 2013 Liberty League Men's Tennis Tournament this weekend, April 27-29. Matches will be played at Vassar College's Josselyn Courts. Action begins on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m.
The Statesmen bring a 5-14 record into tournament play and are the No. 5 seed. Hobart is ranked No. 20 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region Rankings. The Statesmen rounded out the regular season with a 1-1 weekend, cruising to a 7-2 win at Union on Saturday, but falling to Rensselaer 9-0 on Sunday. Sophomore

Bruce Grant have posted a team-high nine doubles wins, with six coming at the No. 1 spot.
Skidmore enters the tournament as the top seed with a 9-7 overall record. The Thoroughbreds are ranked No. 5 in the Northeast Region and No. 27 in the nation. Vassar (7-12), which is ranked No. 12 in the Northeast, is the tournament's No. 2 seed, and Rensselaer (15-3) comes in as the No. 3 seed and is regionally ranked No. 19. St. Lawrence (10-6) earned the No. 4 seed. RIT (4-9) is No. 6, and Union (3-6) and Bard (4-9) round out the field as the No. 7 and 8 seeds, respectively.
The tournament will begin when Skidmore takes on Bard at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Also at 9 a.m., the Statesmen will square off with St. Lawrence. At 2 p.m. Union will take on Vassar and RIT will play against Rensselaer. The semifinals will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, and the championship match will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 29.
