The Hobart College tennis team fell 5-2 to St. Lawrence this morning in the first round of the 2013 Liberty League Tournament hosted by Vassar in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Statesmen, the No. 5 seed and ranked No. 20 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, finished the season with a 5-15 overall record.

The Saints, who are regionally ranked No. 19, were the tournament's No. 4 seed. St. Lawrence improves to 11-6 with the win and advance to the tournament semifinals.

The Saints came out of doubles play up 2-1. Hobart sophomore Michael Fields and junior Nicholas Schoning earned an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. The Statesmen had match points to win at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles, but ended up falling in both 9-8.
