Herons down St. John Fisher 9-0

The William Smith College tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over St. John Fisher in its first dual match of the season this afternoon at the Mendon Racquet Club in Pittsford, N.Y.

The Cardinals are now 2-4 overall.

First-years Ashley Lyon and Hannah More breezed to an 8-1 victory at the top doubles spot. Sophomores Sydney Arsenault and Charlotte Federowicz earned an 8-4 win at No. 2, and sophomores Kelley Hartmann and Hannah Webster posted an 8-1 win at No. 3.

More cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win at the top singles spot. Federowicz blanked her opposition 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Arsenault picked up a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 3, and Lyon downed her competition 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. First-year Annie Venditti registered a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Hartmann secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6.

The Herons will host the ITA Northeast Regional Championships next weekend, Sept. 28-30.
