WELLESLEY, Mass.—The William Smith College golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule this weekend, competing in the 36-hole Ann S. Batchelder Invitational. The Herons, led by senior
Kara Capstraw, finished eighth on the par 72 layout at Nehoiden Golf Course.
Capstraw was in 33rd place in a field of 48 golfers after shooting a 98 on Saturday, but rebounded with her best round of the season, shooting an 82 today. She moved up six places in the standings to finish 27th. Sophomore
Madeline Dietz was the Herons' first round leader. She shot a 91 and was tied for 22nd place. She closed the weekend with a 92 and finished tied for 28th place. Senior
Maddie Carens improved five strokes from the first to the second round (100-95) and was 37th on the weekend. Sophomore

Grace Fiacre made similar improvements, lowering their scores by three and six strokes respectively.
Williams College won the team title (624) behind individual medalist Tracey Kim (148). NYU (638) was second followed by Middlebury (656), Mount Holyoke (665), Amherst (674), Vassar (708), Wellesley (734), William Smith (772), and Westfield State (894).
The Herons will resume play in the spring, when they compete in the Vassar Invitational on April 11-12, 2015.
