Latham, N.Y. – The Hobart College tennis team picked up its first victory of the 2014-15 season this afternoon when they defeated Union 7-2.
The Statesmen trailed the Dutchmen 2-1 after doubles play. First-years
Harry Nichols and
Miles Singer picked up the lone win at No. 3 doubles. Nichols and Singer won 8-1.
Hobart swept the singles competition winning all six matches. At No. 1 position sophomore
Michael Rusk picked up a 7-5, 5-2 victory. Playing out of the No. 2 position, Singer easily won 6-2, 6-1 while Nichols won his match 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3. Sophomore
Danny Kot dispatched his opponent 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth slot.
Carson Smith won his match 7-5, 6-0 and
Luke DeLuccia picked up the sixth victory for Hobart 6-4, 6-2.
The Statesmen return to action tomorrow morning when they take on Bard. Matches are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
