Statesmen edge Ithaca for 5-4 victory

Results

The Hobart College tennis team came out on top 5-4 in a match played against Ithaca College on the indoor courts in Bristol Field House tonight. The Statesmen improve to 8-3 overall, while the Bombers fell to 2-4.
 
With the overall match tied up at 4-4, it all came down to first-year Danny Kot's match at the No. 6. Kot posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory to clinch the overall win for Hobart.
 
The Statesmen came out of doubles play down 2-1. Junior Michael Fields and first-year Matt DePrima earned Hobart's lone win edging their opposition 9-7 at the top spot. Fields cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top singles spot and DePrima logged a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 to put the Statesmen up 3-2. First-year Carson Smith registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 to give Hobart a 4-2 advantage. The Bombers picked up wins at No. 2 and 4 to even the overall score at 4-4, but Kot secured the victory for the Statesmen.
 
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, March 29, when it hosts Skidmore at 2 p.m.
