Statesmen fall to Engineers

Results

The Rensselaer men's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Hobart College in a match played this afternoon on the outdoor courts at the HWS Tennis Center. The Statesmen fall to 8-8 overall, and the Engineers, who are ranked No. 13 in the Northeast Region in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, improve to 10-3.
 
RPI earned a 3-0 lead in doubles and secured the victory with wins at Nos. 2-6 in singles. Junior Michael Fields notched Hobart's lone triumph at the top singles spot. He defeated Matt LaBarre 6-4, 6-4. LaBarre is ranked No. 18 in the Northeast Region by the ITA. First-year Danny Kot was edged in three sets at the No. 3 singles spot.
 
The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, April 13, when they travel to take on St. Lawrence at 3 p.m.
