Statesmen tennis downs Bard 9-0

Results

The Hobart College tennis team earned a 9-0 sweep of Bard in a match played in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., this afternoon. With the victory, the Statesmen are now 11-8, while the Raptors fall to 4-6 this season.
 
Hobart built a 3-0 lead in doubles. First-year Carson Smith and senior Ben Robinson earned an 8-3 victory at No. 1. First-year Jake Criss teamed with junior Luke DeLuccia for a 9-7 triumph at No. 2 and first-years Patrick Dunk and Ryan Smith registered an 8-4 win at the No. 3 spot. It was Smith's first collegiate doubles action.
 
Junior Michael Fields notched a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top singles spot. First-year Michael Rusk downed his opposition 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. First-year Matt DePrima won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 and first-year Danny Kot logged a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 4. Criss cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Dunk recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
 
The Statesmen will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22, when they host Hamilton at 4 p.m.
