Statesmen win 4th straight match, down Hamilton 8-1

Results

The Hobart College tennis team won its fourth match in a row this afternoon, topping Hamilton 8-1. The Statesmen improve to 12-8 this season, while the Continentals fall to 9-10.
 
Hobart swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead. First-years Michael Rusk and Danny Kot picked up the first win of the afternoon 8-1 at No. 2. Junior Michael Fields and first-year Matt DePrima also won 8-1 at the top spot. Senior Ben Robinson and first-year Carson Smith earned an 8-6 win at No. 3.
 
Fields gave the Statesmen a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top singles spot. Rusk clinched the victory for Hobart with a 7-6 (12-10), 6-0 win at No. 2. First-year Jake Criss topped his opposition 6-2, 6-0 to build a 6-0 lead for the Statesmen. DePrima railed for a 4-6,7-5, 10-8 at No. 3, and Smith earned his second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
 
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, April 26, when it travels to take on Vassar at 9 a.m., for its final match of the regular season.
