The Herons showed their depth on the night with eight different players registering a point and six different players scoring goals.
William Smith got the scoring started in the fourth minute when first-year
Alexandra Frary scored the first goal of her career right in front of the cage. Frary's goal was set up after some early pressure in front by the Herons.
Five minutes later, sophomore
Katie Meyer put an
Alessandra Patrizio rebound into the cage to put William Smith up 2-0. The Herons continued to apply the pressure early and 90 seconds later junior
Madison Finn redirected a blast from Wood to put William Smith up 3-0.
Wood then added two goals of her own. In the 17th, she found herself open in front of the cage and converted on a pass from junior
Erin Miller. Six minutes later first-year
Maura Moran fired a pass across the cage that Wood put in the back of the net to give William Smith a five-goal lead.
In the 26th minute, sophomore
Biz Chirco fired a one-timer from Frary into the back of the net to give William Smith a 6-0 lead that stood at halftime.
Alessandra Patrizio, the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Year, capped the scoring for the Herons in 40th minute when she put home a goal right in front of the Oswego goal
All three goalies saw action in the cage for William Smith after senior
Catherine Hare got the start and played 43:33 minutes. Sophomore
Amy Feda played 16:53 while first-year
Emily King played the last 9:34. Oswego State also used all three goalies in the contest. Priscilla Paulose got the start and played the first 10:14, Grace Lombardi finished out the first half playing 24:46 and Sarita Charap played the entire second half. Charap made the most of her playing time stopping 13 shots and limiting William Smith to just one goal in the second half.
William Smith dominated the box score outshooting the Lakers 37-0 while holding a 16-1 advantage in penalty corners.
The Herons return to action on Sept. 6 when they travel to play preseason No. 13 Ursinus at noon in Collegeville, Pa.
