SUFFERN, N.Y.—Senior
Kara Capstraw led the William Smith College golf team at the New York University Fall Invitational this weekend. The Herons competed in the 12-team, 36-hole tournament at Spook Rock Golf Course.
In Saturday's opening round, Capstraw shot an 86, matching her low round of the season. She closed the tournament with a 91 and finished tied for 30th place in a field of 63 golfers. Sophomore
Madeline Dietz bounced back from a 96 on Saturday to shoot an 87 on Sunday, tying for 46th place. Sophomore

Natalie Powers rounded out William Smith's team score, carding a 93 and a 98.
The host Violets won the invitational by 19 strokes over Mount Holyoke. Middlebury was third followed by Randolph-Macon, Amherst, NYU B, St. Lawrence, Cortland, Vassar, Union, Wellesley, and William Smith.
The Herons will be back in action on Sept. 20-21 when they host the annual William Smith Invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club.
