The William Smith College squash team earned 8-1 wins over the University of Minnesota, Colgate and Boston University today in Hamilton, N.Y. The Herons improve to 6-0 on the season.

In its first match of the day, William Smith earned 3-0 wins over the University of Minnesota at Nos. 1-8. The Gophers' Holly St. Clair won at No. 9 by default. Sophomore
Allie Rubin earned an 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 win at the top spot. Sophomore
Michaelann Denton blanked her opposition 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 at No. 2 and first-year
Madison Bradley registered an 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 triumph at No. 3. At No. 4, junior
Brooke Hayes logged an 11-7, 11-7, 11-8 win and at No. 5, sophomore
Peyton Capute topped her opponent 11-4, 11-5, 11-7. First-year
Hattye Hytla earned an 11-3, 11-6, 11-9 victory at No. 6 and senior
Erin Casey posted an 11-3, 11-1, 11-2 win at the No. 7 spot. First-year
Stacy Avigail Maceda breezed to an 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 win at No. 8.

The Herons also won at Nos. 1-8 against the host Raiders. Rubin recorded an 11-4, 11-7, 11-2 victory at No. 1 and Denton came out on top at No. 2 (12-10, 11-5, 11-4). At No. 3, Bradley logged an 11-6, 11-3, 11-6 victory and at No. 4, Hayes cruised to an 11-2, 11-2, 12-10 win. Capute notched an 11-9, 11-1, 11-8 triumph at No. 5 and Hytla rallied for a 7-11, 11-2, 11-2, 11-6 win at No. 6. Casey posted an 11-8, 11-0, 11-7 win at No. 7 and Maceda won 11-8, 11-4, 11-0 at No. 8. Colgate won by default at No. 9.

In the final match of the day, William Smith once again picked up wins at Nos. 1-8. Rubin won 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 at the top spot and Denton earned an 11-9, 11-3, 11-5 triumph at No. 2. At No. 3, Bradley came out on top 11-4, 11-1, 11-8. Hayes registered an 11-3, 11-2, 11-1 victory at the No. 4 spot and Capute notched an 11-5, 11-7, 11-4 win at No. 5. At the No. 6 spot, Hytla won 11-4, 11-6, 11-9, and Casey downed her competitor 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 at No. 7. Maceda recorded an 11-0, 11-5, 11-6 victory at No. 8. The Terriers also won be default at the No. 9 spot.

The Herons will be back in action on Dec. 5-6, when they compete in the 2015 Wesleyan Round Robin.
