CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hobart College tennis team was defeated by Hamilton 6-3 this afternoon. The Statesmen fall to 10-7 on the season while the Continentals improve to 9-10 overall.
Hamilton took a 2-1 lead in the match at the conclusion of doubles play. Sophomores
Michael Rusk and
Danny Kot notched the win for Hobart in the No. 1 spot, 9-8(7-5). Senior
Luke DeLuccia and first-year
Harry Nichols dropped a hard fought match at No. 2, 9-7. At. No. 3 doubles, senior
Michael Fields and sophomore
Carson Smith were edged 9-7.
Fields collected a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, defeating Max McKee-Proctor. Hobart picked up a second singles win when Nichols collected a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Hamilton's Jonathan Cohen.
The Statesmen will conclude their regular season on Sunday, April 26, when they take on Vassar. Hobart's match at the HWS Tennis Center is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
