Hobart tennis falls in Liberty League semifinal

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Hobart College tennis team dropped a Liberty League Tournament semifinal match 5-0 to top-ranked Skidmore this afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University. The Statesmen complete the 2014-15 season with a 10-9 overall record.

The Thoroughbreds, who are ranked 30th in the nation and 11th in the Northeast by Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are now 11-7. Skidmore will play the winner of the second semifinal, No. 2 Rensselaer and No. 3 Vassar, tomorrow.

The Thoroughbreds swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead. Sophomore's Michael Rusk and Danny Kot kept things close but were edged in their match 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Skidmore then secured the victory with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles.

Today's match was the final match for the two Statesmen seniors, Michael Fields and Luke DeLuccia. The pair helped Hobart to 45 wins in their four years.
