The William Smith College squash team went 1-2 in the Wesleyan Round Robin played today in Middletown, Conn. The Herons topped Colby, but fell to Wesleyan and Bates.

The Herons were edged by the host Cardinals 5-4 in their first match of the day. First-year
Gabby Fraser took home a win for William Smith at the top spot (11-4, 11-4, 11-1). Sophomore
Madison Bradley added a victory at No. 6, topping her opponent 11-2, 15-13, 11-5. First-year
Karina Lazaro won 11-5, 11-8, 6-11, 9-11, 14-12 at the No. 8 spot, and sophomore
Hattye Hytla earned an 11-8, 11-6, 11-13, 11-2 victory at No. 9.

William Smith rallied to edged Colby 5-4. Fraser earned her second win of the day, defeating her opposition 11-9, 18-16, 10-12, 11-7 at the No. 1 spot. Rubin added a 12-10, 12-14, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6 victory at No. 3. Sophomore Stacy Avigaik Maceda won 12-10, 11-1, 11-7 at No. 7, and Lazaro notched an 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 triumph at No. 8. At No. 9, Hytla rallied for a 9-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-1 win at No. 9.

The Heron fell to Bates 8-1. Htyla earned the lone win at No. 9 (11-4, 11-6, 5-11, 11-5).

The Herons will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 20, when they compete in the Pioneer Invitational.
