Herons to compete in CSA Team Championships

The William Smith College squash team will compete in the 2016 Epps Cup hosted by Yale University in New Haven, Conn., Feb. 19-21. The Herons take on Boston College in their opening match on Friday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m.
 
William Smith is No. 27 in the most recent College Squash Association rankings and is 15-8 heading into the weekend. The Eagles are No. 30. On Saturday, Feb. 20, the Herons will face either No. 31 Vassar or No. 26 Wesleyan. No. 25 Dickinson, No. 28 Connecticut College, No. 29 Mount Holyoke and No. 32 Haverford round out the Epps Cup Field.
 
Junior Brooke Hayes leads William Smith with 15 wins this season. She has posted an 8-2 record at No. 4, a 5-3 mark at No. 5 and a 1-2 record at No. 6. First-year Madison Bradley has posted 14 wins, going 3-0 at No. 2 and 11-9 at No. 3.
 
Last season, the Herons advanced to the Epps Cup championship match, but were tripped up by Tufts. Now in its 17th varsity season, William Smith is seeking its fourth CSA Cup, having captures the 2006 and 2007 Walker Cup and the 2009 Epps Cup.
