GENEVA, N.Y., - The Hobart College tennis team dropped a non-conference match to NYU 7-2 in Bristol Field House this evening. With the loss, the Statesmen fall to 2-1 on the season.

The Violets (2-2) jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. NYU emerged with two tightly contested 8-6 wins at No. 2 and No. 3. In the top spot, Hobart collected an 8-4 win. Juniors

Jonathan Atwater notched the Statesmen's lone win in singles play with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory. Atwater defeated the Violets Sidd Thangirala at No. 2. NYU collected straight set victories at Nos. 3-6 singles, clinching the match at No. 3. In the top spot, Teoh emerged with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 victory

The Statesmen will be back in action on Sunday morning in Orlando, Fla. Hobart will begin its spring break trip with a match against University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The match is slated to begin at 9 a.m.Â
