GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College tennis team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule this afternoon against Rochester. The Yellowjackets edged the Statesmen 6-3 in Bristol Field House. The loss drops Hobart to 6-6 overall on the season.

Rochester (8-7) escaped doubles play with a 2-1 edge in the match. While Hobart's lone doubles point came at the bottom of the lineup, the Statesmen fought hard in all three matches. Sophomore
Harry Nichols and first-year
Patrick Gray defeated Ian Baranowski and Kevin Hunt 8-6 for their sixth straight win as a doubles team. Nichols and Gray have not lost as a doubles team since returning from Florida. At. No. 1 juniors
Michael Rusk and
Danny Kot were edged 8-6 by the Yellowjackets top duo. First-years
Jonah Salita and
Jonathan Atwater were topped 9-7 at No. 2.

Ben Shapiro clinched the overall match for Rochester with a three set victory over Rusk. Shapiro rallied to take the match after dropping the first set. At. No. 1, Salita, the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week, won his fourth-straight match, knocking off Masaru Fujimaki, 6-4, 6-3. Salita improves to 8-4 at No. 1 this season. Nichols earned his second point of the day at No. 4 singles. He topped Aaron Mevorach 6-3, 6-4. Nichols is 9-6 on the season, including 6-2 at No. 4. Kot and the Yellowjackets' Andrew Nunno split sets at No. 6, but Nunno won the superbreaker 10-5 to close out the match.

Hobart will be in Liberty League play for its final five matches of the season. The Statesmen conclude their home slate this weekend, April 16-17, when they host Skidmore and Union in Geneva, N.Y. Hobart is 6-2 in home matches this season. Â
