ITHACA, N.Y.-The Hobart College tennis team dropped a Liberty League Tournament semifinal match 5-0 to top-ranked Skidmore this afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University. The Statesmen complete the 2015-16 season with a 9-9 overall record.

The Thoroughbreds, who are ranked 20th in the nation and seventh in the Northeast by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are now 13-4. Skidmore will play the winner of the second semifinal, No. 2 St. Lawrence and No. 3 Rensselaer, tomorrow.

The Thoroughbreds took an early lead in the match after sweeping doubles play. Juniors
Michael Rusk and
Danny Kot kept their match close at No. 2 but fell to Kit Sanderson and Jonah Epstein 8-6. Skidmore won 8-3 at No. 1 and 8-5 at No. 3. The Thoroughbreds clinched the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.

Hobart first-year
Jonah Salita dropped the first set to Kai Yuen Leung, but was leading 5-3 in the second set when the match was called because Skidmore had already clinched the overall victory. Rusk was also leading in the second set when the match was called.
