The Hobart College football team will renew its oldest rivalry to close out the regular season, traveling to the University of Rochester on Saturday, Nov. 11, for the annual Centennial Cup game. Kickoff at Fauver Stadium is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.

The game marks the 110th gridiron meeting between Hobart and Rochester with the Statesmen leading the series 54-48-7. The Statesmen have won the past six meetings by a combined score of 207-102. Hobart Head Coach

The Centennial Cup was inaugurated in 2007 for the 100th game between the New York rivals. The Statesmen have won nine of the 10 Cup games.

Hobart (6-3, 2-2) is led offensively by quarterback
Shane Sweeney and wide receiver
Brandon Shed. Over the past two seasons, the seniors have excelled against Rochester (2-6, 0-4). Sweeney has completed 75 percent of his passes (39-of-52) for 512 yards and nine touchdowns for a 214.82 pass efficiency rating. Shed has 10 receptions for 233 yards (23.3 yds/rec) and four touchdowns.

The Statesmen boast the top two scorers in the Liberty League, kicker
Kyle Hackett and running back
Dakota Harvey. Hackett leads the league with 64 points (9 FGs, 37 PATs) and Harvey has 54 points (league-high 9 touchdowns). Combined, the first-years have outscored the Yellowjackets this season 118-97.

ÂDefensively, linebackers
Jedh Downey and
Almamy Conde lead the Statesmen. A sophomore, Downey has 84 stops, third in the conference. A senior, Conde has 60 tackles and shares the team lead with 4.0 sacks and a pair of interceptions.

Rochester is averaging 12.1 points per game and allowing 34.5 points per game. The offense is run oriented, handing the ball off on about 58 percent of its snaps. Junior running back Emanuel Calmar leads the ground game with a league-leading 677 yards on 152 carries (4.5/att) and four touchdowns. When Rochester goes to the air, quarterback Josh Brown has completed 48 percent of his passes for 511 yards and two TDs. Senior wide receiver David Angie leads the team in receptions (27) and receiving yards (302).

On defense, a pair of Yellowjackets have more than 50 tackles on the season. Junior linebacker Ricky Simcic has a team-high 54 stops (38 solo) while senior linebacker Josh Churchin is close behind with 51. Sophomore defensive end Justin Warner has a team-high 7.5 tackles for loss, including 2.5 sacks.
