ORLANDO, Fla. The Hobart College tennis team was defeated by 15th-ranked Amherst 7-2 in the Florida finale for both teams this afternoon. The Statesmen fall to 3-1 on the year while Amherst improves to 10-0.

Amherst took a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. At the top of the lineup, sophomore
Jonah Salita and first-year
Alan Dubrovsky were edged 8-6 by the duo of Anton Zykov and Oscar Burney. Amherst took the other two matches 8-3.

In singles play, sophomore
Jonathan Atwater improved his record to a team-best 9-2 thanks to a 1-6, 7-6(7-4), 10-5 win over Jayson Fung at No. 2. The win was Atwater's fourth straight. Senior
Danny Kot earned Hobart's other point with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 win at No. 6 singles. The win improves Kot to 5-1 on the season. Dubrovsky took his match to a third set at No. 3 singles but was edged 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-4.

Hobart will be back in action next week, March 23 when it faces Ithaca in a non-conference match in Ithaca, N.Y.
