NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hobart College tennis team dropped a non-conference match to No. 29 New York University 8-1 at the Stadium Tennis Center this afternoon. With the loss, the Statesmen fall to 4-2 on the year.

Alan Dubrovsky defeated Umberto Setter and Samuel Khoshbin 8-7 (7-4) at No. 1 Doubles. Salita and Dubrovsky are now 1-1 at the top of the lineup this season. NYU took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles 8-5.

The Violets swept singles play, but the Statesmen forced three sets in all three matches in the top half of the lineup. Sophomore
Jonathan Atwater battled with Umberto Setter, who is the No. 23 ranked singles player in the country according to the Oracle/ITA Division III Men's National Singles Rankings, at No. 1. Setter took the first set 6-3, while Atwater won the second set by the same score. Setter claimed the third set 6-2. In the closest match of the day, Benedict Teoh edged Salita in three sets at No. 2. Teoh took the first set 6-3, Salita won 6-4 in the second and Teoh won the third in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4). Matt Demichiel slipped past Dubrovsky 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the third spot. NYU won the other three matches in straight sets.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, March 26, when it takes The College of New Jersey. The Lions are ranked 40th in the latest Oracle/ITA National Rankings.
