ROCHESTER, N.Y.- The Hobart College tennis team cruised to a 7-2 victory over the University of Rochester at the Lyman Tennis Center this afternoon. The Statesmen, who were ranked 15th in today's Oracle/ITA Northeast regional rankings, improve to 8-4 on the year while the Yellowjackets, who were ranked 18th, fall to 9-9 on the year.

Hobart jumped out to a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Seniors
Danny Kot and
Michael Rusk defeated Tanmay Thakkar and Andrew Nunno at No. 2, 8-2. Kot and Rusk are now 3-3 as a duo this year. Junior
Harry Nichols and sophomore
Jonathan Atwater won their third straight match, topping Sam Leeman and Mattias Hartveit 8-6. Atwater and Nichols are 6-5 when playing together this year. Rochester earned their point at No. 1 when Masaru Fujimaki and Aaron Mevorach edged
Alan Dubrovsky and
Jonah Salita 8-7 (7-5).

The Statesmen clinched the match with five singles wins, all in straight sets. Salita extended Hobart's lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Andrew Nunno at No. 3. Salita is now 10-8 on the year. Rusk bested Aaron Mevorach 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5. Nichols clinched the overall match for Hobart at No. 4. He defeated Jun Yuminaga 6-4, 6-1. Nichols is now 6-6 on the year. Atwater and first-year
Alan Dubrovsky each collected their 14th singles win of the year at No. 1, and No. 2, respectively. Atwater topped Masaru Fujimaki 7-5, 6-2 while Dubrovsky won 6-3, 7-5. Dubrovsky is now on a six-match win streak.

The Statesmen will be back in action next Wednesday, April 19, when they host Rochester Institute of Technology at the HWS Tennis Center. Rochester has now concluded its regular season. The Yellowjackets will be back in action April 21-23 at the UAA Championships.
