GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College tennis team defeated Oneonta 8-1 on a blustery day at the HWS Tennis Center. The Statesmen, who have now completed the non-conference portion of their schedule, improves to 10-4 on the year with today's victory.

Jonathan Atwater cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2. Nichols and Atwater are a team best 8-5 as a duo and are on a five-match win streak. Senior

Colin Molloy closed out the doubles with an 8-6 victory at No. 3. The Red Dragons (6-12) won at No. 1.

The Statesmen won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Jonah Salita improved to 12-8 on the year with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Joseph D'Orazio in the second spot. Salita is on a four-match win streak. At No. 3, Nichols also won 6-2, 6-2 besting Michael DeNigris. Nichols fourth straight singles win improved him to 8-6 on the year. First-year
Joe Mallon clinched the overall win for Hobart topping Nicholas Fox 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. Mallon is 8-5 in his rookie campaign. Senior
Michael Rusk beat Cole Laffitte 6-3, 6-2 to extend the Statesmen lead to 6-1. Rusk is 3-3 in singles play this year. Kot improved to 9-3 in his senior campaign with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory at No. 5. Atwater closed out the match for Hobart at No. 1 defeating Michael Nelson 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. Atwater is now a team best 16-5 in singles play, including an 8-3 record at No. 1.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow for a pair of matches against Liberty League foes. The Statesmen will face Union at 10 a.m. in Schenectady, N.Y., and then take on Bard at 5 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson.
