GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over St. Lawrence in a Liberty League match at the HWS Tennis Center today. The Statesmen, who are ranked 15th in the latest Oracle/ITA Northeast Regional Rankings, improve to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Liberty League this season.

Hobart swept doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. Today's match marks the first time since 2012 that the Statesmen swept the Saints in doubles. Sophomore

Alan Dubrovsky defeated St. Lawrence's Dean Sponholz and Eric Tecce 8-1 in the No. 1 spot. Salita and Dubrovsky are 4-2 at No. 1 doubles this year. At No. 2, seniors

Jonathan Atwater closed out doubles with an 8-3 win at No. 3. Nichols and Atwater are now 5-5 as a duo this year.

Hobart clinched the match, winning four of its five singles points in straight sets. Dubrovsky lost only one game, topping Tecce 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Dubrovsky, who is on a five match win streak, is now 13-4 on the year, including a 2-0 record in the second spot. Salita clinched the overall victory for the Statesmen with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kevin Frommer at No. 3. The win was Salita's ninth of the year. Atwater collected his 13th win of the year, besting Dean Sponholz in the top spot. Atwater won the first set 6-2 and was up 2-0 in the second set when Sponholz retired. Nichols rallied to win his fifth match of the year at No. 4. Marco Amendola took the first set 7-5 while Nichols won the second 6-3. In the super tiebreaker Nichols won 10-3. First-year
Joe Mallon cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5. Mallon is 6-5 on the year, including a 4-3 record at No. 5.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Thursday, April 13, when it travels to Rochester. The match with the Yellowjackets is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
