BUFFALO, N.Y.-The 25th-ranked William Smith college squash team opened the 2018-19 season with wins over Denison and Buknell at the 2018 Buffalo Round Robin yesterday. The Herons topped the Big Red 8-0 and the Bison 6-3 in matches at the Buffalo Tennis and Squash Club.

In the win over Denison, senior
Madison Bradley started the season with an 11-5, 11-1, 11-1 victory in the No. 1 spot while classmate
Michaelann Denton won 11-2, 11-3, 11-2 at No. 2. Junior

Hattye Hytla earned their first collegiate wins at No. 4 and No. 7, respectively. Watcher won 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 while Hytla emerged victorious 11-2, 11-1, 11-1. Junior

Stacy Avigail Maceda earned 3-0 wins at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.

In the afternoon match against Bucknell, Bradley improved to 2-0 after defeating Kelly Clark 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 in the No. 1 spot. Denton notched her second win of the season, defeating Anna Hart 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 at No. 2. Ballo edged Sophia Hartman 11-9, 11-7, 11-13, 12-10 at No. 3 and Lazaro topped Caroline Fakharzadeh 12-10, 11-9, 12-10 in the fifth spot. Avigail Maceda and Lilly Mollinari closed out the match with wins at No. 6 and 8, respectively.

The Herons will be back in action next Saturday, Nov. 10 when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y., for the Colgate Round Robin. William Smith will take on the host Raiders and Vassar. Matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
