MIDDLETOWN, CONN-The William Smith College squash team wrapped up the 2018 portion of its schedule at the Wesleyan Round Robin. The Herons, who were ranked 25th in the latest College Squash Rankings, are now 4-4 overall on the season.

William Smith was defeated by No. 20 Wesleyan 8-1 on Friday. On Saturday, the Herons were bested by No. 23 Colby 8-1 and No. 17 Dickinson.

Gretchen Vietor earned her first-collegiate victory against the host Cardinals. She bested Emma Smith in four games, 11-8, 11-6, 14-16, 14-12. Sophomore
Djenebo Ballo force four games at No. 2 but was edged, 11-1, 8-11, 11-2, 11-7.

On Saturday, junior
Karina Lazaro earned the victory for the Herons against the Mules. She edged Madeline Laimore in five games, 11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6. Senior
Madison Bradley put up a strong fight at No. 1 but was edged by Julianna Song 11-6, 13-11, 10-12, 11-4. In the afternoon match, the Red Devils had eight 3-0 victories. Molly Watcher was defeated in four games, 11-3, 6-11, 11-7, 11-0.

The Herons will be back in action in 2019 when they travel to South Hadley, Mass. For the Mount Holyoke Round Robin. William Smith will take on Mount Holyoke, Tufts, and Bates.
