The William Smith College lacrosse team is No. 20 in this week's IWLCA Division III poll. The Herons travel to take on No. 14 Ithaca in a Liberty League contest on Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
 
The Herons went 1-1 last weekend, dropping Friday's game to Clarkson 9-4 and defeating St. Lawrence 11-9. William Smith is 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the Liberty League. The Herons lead the Liberty League and rank 11th in the nation in scoring defense (6.42).

Senior Melissa Moore leads William Smith with 25 goals, 10 assists, 35 points and 25 ground balls. First-year Mekayla Montgomery has a team-high 31 draws and 15 caused turnovers. First-year Jules Kennedy, who was named to the Liberty League's honor roll this week, has played the most minutes in goal. She ranks first in the Liberty League and 11th in the nation in goals against average (6.67) and is 35th in Division III in save percentage (.524). Kennedy is 5-2 in goal this spring.

Wednesday's game marks the 50th meeting between Ithaca and William Smith, but the first as Liberty League rivals. The Bombers joined the Liberty League at the start of this academic year. The Herons hold a 28-21 advantage in the series that dates back to 1977. Ithaca holds a slight 10-9 advantage when playing at home. William Smith won the last meeting between the teams, but the Bombers won seven straight meetings prior.

Ithaca brings an 8-3 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in the Liberty League. The Bombers are riding a four-game win streak. Allie Panara leads the team with 51 points on 28 goals and 23 assists. She also has a team-high 56 draws. Elizabeth Sauer leads the way with 34 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers. Kimberly Presuto has played the most minutes in goal and has a 9.17 goals against average, a .533 save percentage and an 8-3 record.
