GENEVA, N.Y. —The William Smith College squash team defeated St. Lawrence 5-4 this evening. The Herons improve to 4-0 overall this season while the Saints fall to 0-1.
 
Senior Gabby Fraser defeated Sanna Koivumaki 11-9, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 12-10 in the No. 1 spot. Fraser is now 3-0 at No. 1 this season. Junior Jo Pacheco fell to Makyla Kelley 11-8, 11-6, 11-6 at No. 2. First-year Talia Welker topped Kat Leiva 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8 in the No. 3 spot. Welker is 4-0 overall this season. First-year Erin Griffis earned her third straight win, defeating Katie Walsh 11-6, 4-11, 12-10, 11-6 in the No. 6 spot. Sophomore Gretchen Vietor recorded a win over Samantha Sambrook 11-7, 11-2, 11-4 at No. 8. First-year Aye Bah defeated Arelis Arellano 11-5, 11-3, 11-2 at No. 9.
 
William Smith will be back in action Sunday, Nov. 17, when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for a match against Cornell. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
