William Smith Squash Mackenzie Larsen '12

Continentals best Herons 6-3

The William Smith College Squash team was defeated by Hamilton 6-3 at the Smith Squash Center this afternoon. The Herons conclude their regular season with an 8-9 overall record.
 
The Continentals won 3-0 to earn five of their six points.. William Smith earned points at No. 1, No.3 and No. 9 in today's match. Junior Gabby Fraser topped Charlotte Zonis 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 in the top spot of the lineup. Fraser is now 7-2 this season, playing all nine matches in the No. 1 spot. Senior Madison Bradley earned her eighth win of the season, besting Caitlin Stern 11-5, 11-8, 11-4 in the third spot. Junior Hattye Hytla knocked off Eleonor Wolf 12-10, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7 in the ninth spot.
 
In the closest match of the day, first-year Molly Wachter was edged by Sydney Soloway in five games, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 6-11, 6-11.
 
The Herons return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 11 when they travel to Hartford, Conn. William Smith will take on Georgetown in the first round of the College Squash Team National Championships. The Herons will compete for the Epps Cup.
