The 18th-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team will be back in action this weekend for a pair of games. The Herons will travel to Rochester, N.Y., to take on No. 17 St. John Fisher on Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m. William Smith will make its 2019 Boswell Field debut on Saturday, March 16, when it welcomes Bard to Geneva for a Liberty League contest. Opening draw against the Raptors is scheduled for noon. Both games will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).

The Herons bring a 2-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the Liberty League into Friday's game. The Herons are led by sophomore
Ellie Burns' eight goals and eight points. Junior
Rachel Slagle is right behind her with a goal and four assists for five points. Sophomores
Rachel Yackel and
Mekayla Montgomery each have four goals. Montgomery leads the team with 11 ground balls and 18 draw controls through the first three games. Sophomore
Olivia Hofmann has played the majority of the minutes this season. She is 2-0 with an 8.98 goals against average and a .447 save percentage.

The game against the Cardinals will be the Herons second straight match against a nationally-ranked team. William Smith fell to then No. 13 Amherst 11-6 on Sunday. St. John Fisher brings a 2-1 record into Friday's game and is coming off a 21-3 victory over King's last Friday, March 8. Mallory Eymer leads the team with eight goals three assists and 11 points. Alyssa Sproule is right behind her with seven points on six goals and an assist. Logan Chase has scooped up a team best eight ground balls while Sydney DeGirolamo has won 15 draws. Claudia Mocciaro has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 2-1 with a 6.52 GAA and a .750 save percentage.

Friday's game marks the 15th meeting between William Smith and St. John Fisher. The Herons hold an 8-6 edge in the series with a 4-3 record at Growney Stadium. William Smith ended a six-game skid against the Cardinals with a 6-5 double overtime win on March 21, 2017.

The Herons take on Bard on Saturday in their home opener. William Smith was originally scheduled to take on Geneseo on Feb. 27 on Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium but that game was postponed twice due to winter weather. The game will now take place on March 29.

Bard brings a 3-1 overall record into the weekend. Saturday's game will be the Raptors' Liberty League opener. Bard is coming off a 19-6 victory over Plattsburgh on Wednesday afternoon. Melissa Rosenthal and Caleigh DeCaprio share the team lead with 23 points each. Rosenthal has 17 goals and six assists and DeCaprio has 15 goals and eight assists. Dylan McDonald leads Bard with 17 ground balls, and Rosenthall has won 21 draws. Izabel Kickner has played every minute in goal for the Raptors. She has a 6.00 GAA and a .250 save percentage.
