#15 Herons to visit Hamilton Wednesday

The 15th-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team will travel to Clinton, N.Y., Wednesday, April 6, to take on Hamilton College, which is receiving votes in the latest IWLCA poll. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Withiam Field.
 
Riding a 10-game win streak, the Herons bring a 12-2 overall record into the game. William Smith leads the Liberty League and ranks 22nd in the nation in scoring defense (7.00 gpg).
 
Sophomore Ellie Burns leads William Smith with 44 goals and 51 points this season. She is second in the Liberty League in goals scored and third in the Liberty League in goals per game (3.14). Burns has recorded a hat trick in 10 of the Herons' 14 games this season. Junior Rachel Slagle leads the Herons with 21 assists. Junior Nicki Santora and sophomore Rachel Yackel each have 20 goals this season. Sophomores Olivia Hofmann and Jules Kennedy have split time in goal this season. Hofmann, who was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week yesterday, is 6-0 with a 6.41 goals against average and a .494 save percentage. She leads the Liberty League and sixth in the nation in GAA. Kennedy is 6-2 with a 7.59 GAA and a .465 save percentage. She is second in the conference in GAA.
 
Hamilton brings a 5-7 overall record into the game. The Continentals are looking to bounce back from a 13-9 loss to then No. 3 Middlebury on Saturday. Hamilton is led by Kara Pooley, who has a team-high 19 goals, 19 assists and 38 points. Tatiana Bradley and Tessa Ryan also have 19 goals each. Hannah Burrall has played a majority of the minutes in goal, posting a .459 save percentage and 11.56 GAA.
 
Wednesday's game will be the 51st meeting all-time between William Smith and Hamilton. The Herons lead the series 34-15-1. William Smith holds a 13-5-1 edge in Clinton.
